Ich hab den Begleitext bei "Rolling Stone" mal langsam gelesen, um heraus zu bekommen, was die Liste bedeuten soll.
Es geht danach nicht um "beste Sänger(innen)", so wie man das normalerweise versteht.
Zitate:
"This new list was compiled" (by) "our staff and key contributors, and it encompasses 100 years of pop music ..."
"You might notice that, say, there isn’t any opera on our list — that’s because our purview is pop music writ"(ten) large, meaning that almost all the artists on this list had significant careers as crossover stars making popular music for the masses."
"keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List."
Deshalb findet man darin auch einen Krächzer wie Bob Dylan, aber nicht die "Peruanische Nachtigall" Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chavarri del Castillo, besser bekannt als Yma Sumac, an die man sich noch erinnern wird, wenn viele der Pop-Eintags-Fliegen, die unter den Top-200 gelistet werden, längst vergessen sind.
"In all cases, what mattered most to us was originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy."
Ich meine, man sollte diese und ähnliche Listen nicht zu ernst nehmen. Man kann da im Einzelfall doch zu recht anderen Bewertungen kommen.
