Zitat:why I was very interested in the composition and manufacturing processes, but nobody could comment.I also can't... Video Cassettes are not of any interest for me, I even have some NOS VHS somewhere.
Of course some things would be nice to know because of the connection between Audio and Video tape and the related CrO2 vs FeCo formulatons.
Zitat:SKC is really a problem because for example they have one model of Ferro GX and one model of FeCo II QX, but tapes can vary extremely in color and translucency by batch and vintage. Not to mention the OEM SKC for other brands, it's extremely hard to get a handle on, then those affairs regarding destroying heads along with Mexican Sony.
I don't have a siite where a have to know about any tape:-) So I can just ignore most of the cheaper stuff that mostly beside of the lower performance feels and looks not that great.
But I also have some SKC like QX and many OEM like Kendo, Scotch or Memorex, but I don't really use them. Same with all the new stuff, wich is mostly crap compared to a simple TDK wich was available for 1€ some years ago.
So i never examined my SKC tapes, don't know if they changed their formulation every year, or if they had that many tapes at the same time. I now for Type II they had a CrO2 a FeCO and even a Chrome PLus (Cro2/FeCo).
I was really surprised when I looked at the ACME Hong Kong site, they had data sheets at for least 8 different Type I tapes.
