Zitat:The Basf Studio shell is indeed heavier than the That's CDIVF itself.Of course it is, the Studio Shell should be identical to the Suono Metal, the CDIVF is only Souno Format, so molded in the same or close casting molds but not with the PS, Rubber, Metal Compund.
The advantage of the Suono Format is the shell does not leak that yellow stuff, that can ruin the tape.
Comparing tapes by optics can help, but also can only be one aspect to judge, especially the shape of the tape, cupped flat, twisted or whatevver is sometimes a distinct character.
But it also can lead to nowhere, I have seen tapes from the same type and batch that were totally flat on one example and cupped on another.
This can happen due to different usage or storage, or probaly even at the factory slitting process. if one or more of the knives are in slightly different shape.
Maybe I will find some time tomorrow to do a measuring of the Studio 353 II against some XLII from that time or maybe an That's VX.
