Kirunavaara:
Thanks!
It's a pretty common problem with the different tape content in different batches of audiotapes, but with Basf I'm disappointed, now it makes logical sense that we have different observations like that.
I'll rewrite Agfa Made in to Saehan Korea then.
My Quantegy C10 472 open in the photo.
Blue Basf LH, thank you, I really didn't want to believe the year when I first found out the number coding from your forum, it seemed very new to me, but in Slovakia this was a very common cartridge imported illegally in the pre-1989 regime, this is how I got three other worn pieces of blue LH from my aunt, where the year is probably a bit older, but some are so damaged that you can't read the numbers. And by the way sticking and squeaking occurs to a small extent with these cassettes as well.
But I never exactly understood that factory detection by Basf number, as it changed often and I would need to correct all the Made in Germany Basf descriptions on the web to the correct Made in ...
Also interesting are the green Basf LHI, https://ez647.sk/cc/basf_fslhi.html#79
Where I have two cassettes with the label but different packaging, but the newer one I got used, so maybe the booklet is not correct.
I also have another used one with a different label, but again the booklets are the same as the 1981 one, but I haven't put the cassette out, due to it's very ugly condition, but maybe I will for completeness sake.
I know that the TDK SA USA Market 1990 and 1992-96 versions with the wrong booklets on my site have also been dealt with here on the forum, but then again I got them used that way from auction, although I have removed some of the booklets from the site.
I still want to ask, is your knowledge that good with VHS as well? I'm puzzled by the Panasonic VHS, the catalogues sometimes mention Magnum particles, what is Algida's ice cream? And the odd optical findings on the tape reminiscent of dual layer Angrom, bottom brown, surface black on the tape.
Thanks!
