It's complicated.
SKC QX and its OEM versions, I really read it first on Tapeheads in connection with the Mexican Sony Aurex.
I haven't destroyed heads myself, though I admit the behavior of this tape towards heads strikes me as harsher. So far I use them with misgivings, but the Mexican Sony Type IIs are just ones I recorded years ago and I notice the non-standard behaviour of the tape, but the heads
seem to be fine.
My big SKM test is currently in the area of basic ferro tape, for its great variety of manufacture. Each batch is sometimes more or less different.
But that's where I've found major problems with the binder collabs and the tape sticking against the heads.
So far this is true of about 7pcs of SKM cassettes from my collection and more will be added.
