I think there was no official colour series, other than the 1973 line-up which, if made by Permaton, came in coloured shells and cases by default.
Oh yes, I know what you mean - but with My First Sony and GS SHP it was part of the concept. ICM "Colors" are even worse, because even the cassette halves come in random colours. I am fine with keeping those variations I find, because it would be quite frustrating to try and get them all.
But the mixture of design elements from different line-ups, using different shells and so on is rather a pragmatism which was spread among most European, American and even Korean tape brands. For most users, it didn't matter at all. Only the Japanese had significantly higher ambitions regarding design consistency, and even there we can find more or less subtle variations.
