Very nice overview of Fuji.
Regarding DR-I and DR-Ix Made in Japan, on Sony tape decks of the 90's, specifically I have a SONY TC-KE600S, there is an internal calibration with which I can compare audio tapes to each other. I assume that Sony factory calibrated this deck
for Sony HF-S, UX-S and Metal-XR tapes.
That's why the basic ferro models show very low numbers even between brands.
But Fuji DR-I Japan show high figures comparable to Axia Beridox. I only tried one piece, specifically Fuji DR-I Japan with those very poorly designed hubs, but the tape was amazing.

Comparison with Axia JZ1:

After my recent tests of various brands of audiotapes made by SKM, I got very different results. There's a huge amount of tape types included in just the basic ferric class, maybe even 10 kinds of tape with extremely
different characteristics.
Even SKM's FUJI DRs are not at all consistent, and they used different types of tape each batch.
It is not at all possible to compare the quality with DRI Made in Japan.
Some could not be calibrated to full satisfaction on the Sony tape deck.
Some had sticky problems, binder decomposition.
I've marked each audiotape I've tried on the web (web functionality is still being resolved) with links to the test and a simple binder status rating, unfortunately the more extensive description is only in Slovak.
