I have a Carad R73 in my possesion since 1978 and i am restoring it. needless to say it needs new heads from Bogen, but these are imposible to source anywhere. Are Revox A77 heads a possible replacement?

- Peter.H - 20.10.2009

Hello,
I do not know whether Revox heads will replace the heads on your Carad maschine - But another option - maybe PHI Magnetronics can supply a tapehead that will fit as a replacement of the Bogen heads? http://www.phi-falmouth.co.uk/audio.html
Best of luck with your restoration.
Peter.

Thanks peter, i will try them. I spent time talking to Bogen three years ago but they were helpless. Technology moves on.

Alas no luck with Phi at falmouth.
Anybody know where to get New Old Stock Bogen heads?

- MichaelB - 22.10.2009

Hi, Do you have a pic of the heads?

- ~philipoos - 23.10.2009

yes i have photos but how do i upload them. Bogen 65 ohms 1.5cm x 1.2cm half track.

- MichaelB - 23.10.2009

Just click on "Upload" on the top of this side. Choose the file, max 500kB, only ASCII characters and click "UPLOAD". On the next side mark the complete line/s between and with the "" tags. Then click "return" on your browser twice and paste the marked text into your post.

Bogen had manufactured so much different tape heads with similar technical data. The best way to identify is the way with your eyes ... Wink

Hi Michael, i became a member, uploaded data and now can't get back in to send you a message saying where the files have gone. I have even had to use a new guest name to get back in. The file is in the upload section of the forum

Thanks. Can you please make an additional pic from the front side of the heads?

- ~newnamep - 26.10.2009

Hi, front side. try this link:

That looks like universal Bogen heads, which are also installed into several Uher machines. I need to look in my packets for some of them.

- ~newnamep - 26.10.2009

Uher heads, that would make some sort of sense bearing in mind the date and location of the machine. I live in hope...

Too much spam at the moment. Closing time.
