Studer A807 head relapping - jaehong Lee - 16.10.2025 Hi! I tried to relapping Studer A807 heads. But I can't take out record haed from shield housing. One side is easily off. but the other side stucks (like corrugated or bonded) I need help or guidance from experience RE: Studer A807 head relapping - q-tip - 16.10.2025 The other side of the housing is glued. You can get it off if you really want to. Lapping heads that were correctly adjusted and never removed usually doesn't make sense. Regards Robert RE: Studer A807 head relapping - jaehong Lee - 17.10.2025 Hi Robert. Thanks. Do you suggest that relapping A807 head is meaningless? I am confused . Maybe due to not good English to German translation . Anyway it is very strongly glued. I can't take out with my hand force. Jaehong RE: Studer A807 head relapping - Baruse - 17.10.2025 Re-lapping a head only makes sense if it was misaligned and developed an uneven wear pattern. If the head surface looks fine, there’s no reason to lap it – doing so would just remove material unnecessarily without any positive effect. RE: Studer A807 head relapping - AKRETA - 17.10.2025 It depends on the surface of the head. When a Revox head is flat there is not much material in the gap left. So when you lap the head the gap gets wider and higher frequencies will suffer. If the surface of the head is uneven or if it has been readjusted then lapping may help to get a better contact between head and tape. |
