ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - jaehong Lee - 14.10.2025 Hi! My ASC 6002 sometimes doesn't play due to capstan motor. Capstan motor sometimes doesn't rotate especially after long no use. If i forced to rotate with my hand, then it rotate and play as nomal. I know capstan motor is hall motor. so I think it doesn't have dead spot like DC motor . what is cause and remedy for thios? Thans in advance. Change the potentiometer R1305 on the motor board first. It should have 100 Ohms but it degrades over the years. When the resistance is to high the hall elements don´t get enough current. RE: ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - jaehong Lee - 15.10.2025 Hi! thank you. Is it potentiometer R1303? R 1305 is fixed resistor with 12 ohm. Jaehong RE: ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - bobhund - 15.10.2025 Look at the picture in the thread I linked to yesterday: https://tonbandforum.de/showthread.php?tid=17105&pid=382639#pid382639 It's the lying potentiometer. The numbering seems to be inconsistent. On my machine it was R1305, although that number was used for two parts there. RE: ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - jaehong Lee - 15.10.2025 Hi. Thank you. I changed 100 ohm trimmer and adjusted less than 30 mV across R1301. It seems to be working OK. Many thanks you all. Jaehong RE: ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - bobhund - 15.10.2025 Great! RE: ASC AS 6002 capstan motor won't rotate - perez - 16.10.2025 It sounds like the motor’s lubrication may have dried up or become sticky after long periods of non-use, causing the initial resistance. Even though it's a Hall motor, old/loss of lubrication or gummed-up bearings can still cause this. Try carefully applying a suitable lubricant to the motor bearings. Also, check the power supply capacitors as aging components can cause startup issues. If the issue persists, a deeper cleaning or professional servicing may be needed. Good luck!
